Frozen Love
One day you will lose someone you love:
Your grandmother, whose laugh was a distinct "oohoohoo" that only family knows you mimic because you feel if you do it again and again she will appear at her piano to once again teach you how to plink at the ivory keys.
You will sob the first time you hear her synthetic laughter through a VHS tape you forgot existed because you forgot how much you missed it. Then you will play the recording over and over until you can mimic her every breath like you can recite a Princess Bridge quote.
The day of her funeral, you cling to your father's arm and know that he will die too. But, you don't say it aloud because you know everyone will tell you to "Stop thinking like that". So, instead you just tell him that he isn't allowed to grow old despite the fact that you know age isn't able to be stopped.
People say they wish they could freeze moments. Sometimes you wish you could freeze time, and never lose anyone you love. But then you remember that you didn't know everyone you loved at the same time.
