Dangers for the Meek
I climbed up onto a blueberry and looked down at Devin. "How did this even happen?"
"Who knows." He sat beside me, on another blueberry and leaned back. "The important part is figuring out how to survive our new size."
"True. Hey, what kind of dangers do we even have?" Devin had a slew of facts memorized that he would throw out at the most random times.
"Anything is a danger to us at this size," he said. "Better keep a watch out."
I nodded as I glanced around our surroundings. "Hey, what's that over there?" I jumped down from my blueberry and wandered over to a slice of pineapple. "Looks like an ant."
"What kind?"
"How am I supposed to know?" I pulled my hand away from the fruit and licked at the sticky substance left on my hand.
"You're a biology major." I turned around to watch Devin as he slowly peeled himself off of the blueberry.
"Doesn't mean I know every kind of ant."
Devin walked up beside me and narrowed his eyes at the bug, watching the ant as it moved closer. When the ant was probably a watermelon's length away from us he started to back up. "Dude. That's a Camponotus saundersi."
"¿QuĂ©?"
"A Malaysian exploding ant."
"Sounds like a type of firework," I said.
"It's not. It's a type of ant that explodes poison all over their enemies." He started to back up again. "And it should be in Malaysia."
"We should leave," I said.
"Agreed."
